Imprinted memories attempts to re-imagine and capture the impact of trauma on my Italian ancestors when the German Army invaded their village, during World War Two. This is the only photograph I could source that portrayed the destruction of Fara San Martino, Abruzzo, Italy, during the German invasion.

Cyanotype on Fabriano paper, 24K gold leaf, and machine stitching. 2023.
My Italian great-grandmother, Serafina, endured much trauma in her lifetime. She lost ten children and my Poppa was her only surviving son. The work, Saint Serafina honours her place in the family archives. I turned her into a Saint due to her enduring strength to work through turbulent experiences.
